Field Trip to the Houston Zoo

One great thing about having such a flexible schedule now is that we can pick and choose field trips days that work for us.  Obviously, one of the things we do look at more closely is the actual cost of certain things.  But one thing that I've learned is that most of these tourist attractions, etc always have about one day every month where it is free admission for about four hours.  And so, we write that down and hit it up at those times!  So, needless to say, on May 5th, family fun night - we headed down to the Houston Zoo for some FREE admission!!  This zoo was by far the prettiest zoo that I think I've ever been to!  The trees alone in this place were large and beautiful.  The whole place seemed shaded and it wasn't too hot at all.  Not to mention that the animals were amazing and we could actually see a lot of the close up and personal!  Highlights of the day included actually seeing in person a Texas Longhorn and getting to feed the giraffes!  The boys had a blast and were worn out by the end of the day!

While we were looking at the new gorilla habitat, Tyler started screeming, "Guys!  Look at this!  You have to see this!  You won't believe it!!"  And when we got down to his level, we saw his amazing find...a roly poly.  Yep, take them to the zoo to see a gorilla and they write about a roly poly in their field trip journal!  Lol.

The other huge find for Tyler was when he spotted a turtle in the lion's area.  He was so excited it was riduculous.  Nathan and I just looked at each other and said, "and he's four."
